A Wedding Rehearsal - What You Need to Know

You are getting married with your dear one. And you want your wedding to be perfect without any hitches. For that perfect wedding, you need to plan and practice a day before your wedding. A wedding rehearsal is important because it ensures that everything goes according to plan as far as possible. This event has becoming an important part of the wedding celebration.

A wedding rehearsal usually takes place a day before the wedding at the chosen ceremony location though that's not the case all the time. It can also take place several days before the wedding ceremony. A wedding rehearsal is like a dress rehearsal without the dress. A rehearsal is usually a good idea and sometimes necessary to make sure that your wedding party knows what they are supposed to do on the wedding day. If you are having a small wedding with only two bridal party attendants most likely you can do without it but in the event you have a big wedding party it would be advisable to hold one. The wedding party learns how to behave and move during the wedding ceremony. Issues like who seats who and where each person should stand, the order of the bridesmaid who will walk the aisle etc. If there are kids in your wedding party, then it's important they attend the rehearsal. Since the rehearsal is usually followed by either lunch or dinner, it serves as an acquaintance for those who are directly involved in the wedding ceremony-immediate families, close friends of the families and the wedding party members.

During wedding rehearsals, an officiant will guide the event. It's not the case always; if you don't want an officiant make sure that someone from your family or even your wedding planner stands out as the rehearsal leader. Usually a wedding planner is the ideal rehearsal guide as part of his/her service package. He/she should be able to organize the event; from the venue, to the lunch or dinner menu, the invitations and the actual rehearsal. He or she will also explain everyone's role in the ceremony. He/she should be able to direct the rehearsal's flow with efficiency in order to allow more time for the lunch or dinner.

Since your big day is special to you, you might have added some personal touches to make it a memorable experience. So these should be tried out at the rehearsal. Also make sure that your wedding entourage knows well in advance, the timing for your rehearsal because you want everyone to be there. Ensure that they know the timings as well as the venue for your wedding rehearsal as well as the following lunch or dinner. Every participant has to be there in order for the rehearsal to be successful. If someone is missing make sure there is space left for them and ask those who are nearest to the missing attendant, to guide that person on the wedding day.
